Menstrual cups are one of the most sustainable option for periods, yet they are still far from the most popular choice, because we don't know how to use them.
So why not show how to? create real-life tutorials women can watch from the privacy of their homes?
Of course, there is no actual way to demonstrate how to use the cup without showing nudity, which would be censored on any social media channel. Because there’s no distinction between pornographic content and education, which
was they key to the idea: if nothing goes, also everything goes. So why not show education where it's least to be found? Breaking taboos by showing it all on the only channel it would allow it: Pornhub.
Here's the teaser campaign:
Of course, this was just the first step. We then wrote created and shot three short film tutorials on how to wear, clean and use the the cup and released them online. If you are curious, go see them here on the Female Company's website :)
When the campaign went viral, it also did for reasons beyond my expectations. I found myself personally involved due to issues regarding industry malpractice. And if I may say so, I handled it pretty well. You can read my official statement made on LinkedIn here.
